The Very Best of the They Said I Could Be Anything Meme
They told me I could  be anything, so I became a god. So says the original Clarinet Boy macro you have seen floating around the Internets since 2009. The phrase comes from the Book of Isaiah re: Horace's commentary on idols made of wood: "Once I was a trunk of a fig-tree, a useless piece of wood, when a carpenter, uncertain whether to make a bench or a Priajus, preferred that I should be a god; and so I became a god" (Isaiah 44:1-28). In this case, the piece of wood doesn't so much decide to become a god as he is made into one by a carpenter, but still. A cat can be a towel if it wants to.
